There is a company called Filmbank Distributors which operates specifically to handle public screenings of films. In addition, you can contact Performing Rights Society (PRS) to find out about obtaining a license for your premises (there may already be one in place). Call PRS on 020 7580 5544 for more information.

Answer

It’s important, if you’re serious about your idea that you think about copyrighting it. If you have it in the form of a script or manuscript, you can copyright it by making sure the piece of work is produced as a hard copy, copyright marked ©, dated and signed.  You then need to post it by recorded delivery to yourself and finally, deposit it somewhere secure such as a bank or solicitor firm.
