Job Title: Stunt Performer and Coordinator
Location: Wanstead, East London
Steve Truglia, Stunt Performer and Coordinator from Wanstead, East London, most recently, featured in Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, doing various fight scenes with Jake Gyllenhal, as well as a number of stunts on Wolfman. Steve said:
“Before you can work as a stuntman you need to be on the stunt register. To qualify to be on the register you need to excel in six different sports, which are all assessed independently and individually. Once you’re on the register there are three levels; probation, intermediate and then you can qualify to become a Stunt Coordinator. This process can then take up to ten years, so it's certainly not a career that you master overnight!
“A typical stunt performer will get paid per job, which ranges depending on the size of a project. Importantly though, we rely on ‘repeat fees’ and DVD sales to form the main part of our income.
“For stunt performers like me, DVD sales are a vital source of income. It’s important that people continue to buy genuine DVDs rather than knock-offs, as they keep a roof over my head and help me stay in the job I love.”
