Job Title: Actor
Location: Doncaster, Yorkshire
Actor Kevin Davids has appeared in The Bill, Blue Murder and played a central role in the BBC3 sitcom ‘I’m With Stupid’. Kevin has just completed filming a new series for the BBC.
“Acting is notoriously up and down as a profession, but being a disabled actor means that the roles are much fewer and there are often large gaps in between each job. I do think that there are fewer projects being made and a lot of budgets are being cut or squeezed and this has a lot to do with copyright infringement and theft.”
“Working on a programme such as ‘I’m With Stupid’ was an amazing experience. I do wish sometimes that the public could see behind the scenes. It’s not all fun and games; it’s a demanding industry, actors are often working for less and competing for work. Also with budgets being cut, there is less funding for more exciting and creative TV to be made, which of course is so damaging to the whole of the UK TV and film industry.”
“When you factor in all the people who work behind the scenes in film and TV - camera men, set designers, runners, makeup artists, location managers, animators and the list goes on – it’s hard to inform the public of how vital everyone’s role is in making such fantastic Telly and films.”
“I wish people would realise that if they don’t support the British film and TV industry by legally buying and downloading film and TV content, then the livelihoods of people who work in creative industries is under serious threat and less challenging and creative films can be made in the future.”
